News

Comments on some of the upcoming or downgoing club activities and and other events that may be of interest to LSR members. Read on....

The Monthly E-Mail

At the beginning of each month the LSR Member-at-Large sends out an e-mail through the PCA distribution system that looks at the up-coming activities and events for the next one or two months. In case you miss this e-mail, or if it is unreadable, it is reprinted here.

Both PCA National and LSRPCA policy limit the PCA e-mailer for club business, and it is LSR's policy to limit the number of e-mails sent out with this system. Announcements that are not appropriate for the PCA e-mailer system may be posted on the Yahoo Forum.

Performance Workshop

Momentum Porsche’s Service team hosted their first annual Performance Enhancements Workshop on August 21st. Momentum is now in a position to install aftermarket performance enhancing components such as air intake boxes and exhaust systems and reflash chips to reflect these changes. About 50 persons attended the workshop, many from LSR. Look for a full report and photos in an upcoming PorscheNaut. If you would like more detailed information, contact the Momentum Service Manager, Jeff Pollard.

New Board Members

After many years of service, Lea Safley has reluctantly stepped down as PorscheNaut editor. Our Region magazine has flourished under his leadership, and his contribution to the Region will be missed.

Stepping into the editor's job is Rob Quarles, who has recently moved to Houston from Florida. We certainly welcome Rob into this demanding volunteer position. As always, contributions from members for publication in the 'Naut are always welcome.

Weekend Morning Coffee Get-togethers

In an effort to provide more opportunities for members to meet on an informal basis, LSR is encouraging participation in weekend morning meet-ups for coffee. Currently, we have events in the southern, northern, northwestern, and central parts of our Region. Eventually, we would like to add events in the eastern and western parts. To do this we need someone to pick a place and time. LSR will help get the word out. Click here for photos from a recent (April 2010 Uptown Park) event.

FIRST SATURDAY - CENTRAL

The central meeting is in conjunction with Coffee and Cars on the first Satuday of each month at the Uptown Park Shopping Center near Starbucks, 1151 Uptown Park (near Post Oak Blvd @ West Loop 610). This is not an LSR activity, but LSR members are welcome to attend, and many do. This event lasts from 8:30 am to 10:30 am.

SECOND SUNDAY - SOUTHERN

The southern meeting is at Cellar Wine Bar (formerly, the Paradise Coffee Company - same place, new name) at 1606 Clear Lake City Blvd on the second Sunday of every month from 8:30 - 10:30. Contact John Fabry if you have questions or need additional directions. Note that coffee and pastries are served Sunday morining - you can hang around for the wine (in moderation) and cheese, later.

THIRD SATURDAY - NORTHWESTERN

The northwestern meeting is at 9 am on the third Saturday of each month at the Starbucks at 290 at Spring - Cypress, in the Best Buy parking lot. E-mail Mike Shassere or call 832-693-5319 to answer any questions.

FOURTH SATURDAY - NORTHERN

The northern meeting is at 8:30 am on the fourth Saturday of each month at the Woodlands Starbucks located at the Market Street Section west of the Woodlands Mall. Information is published on the Yahoo Group site, and you can get e-mail notifications of all posts. If you have any questions, e-mail Mike Richey.

Both of these events are on the LSR calendar. We encourage all attendees, who are not members of PCA, to join and participate in other Region activities.

The next meeting of the Porschenistas will be at Champps Houston Uptown, 1121 Uptown Park Blvd, from 6 to 8 pm on Friday, April 16th.

Porschenistas generally meet on the second Friday of each month for the Ladies' Porsche Social. Check the Calendar for details or contact Nina Midway , our Social Chair and Ladies Events Coordinator. She can also be reached at 281-686-2989. Last minutes Porschanistas and guests are always welcome.

Volunteers

There is a need for committee members on the various Region Committees, and we have a vacancy for the Rally Committee Chair, which is an appointed position. This is a good time to review your interest in various Region activities and come forward as a volunteer to be a Committee Chair or Member.

Also, if you see an area we are not covering with our Committees and would like to become active in that area, let us know. For example, this past year we added a Ladies' Activities Chair, and a new leader/organizer for our Spring Tour.

Keep Up-To-Date

If your e-mail address has changed since you joined PCA of if you have moved, the club's information on how to contact you may be out of date. If you haven't been getting e-mail alerts about up-coming club events, please update your member profile (e-mail and residence address, the year or model of the Porsche you drive, or any other profile information) with PCA. You must update your PCA profile to get in on the PCA "automated" e-mail distribution, and if you don't want to be on the mailing list, you must opt out on the PCA website.
