The Bylaws...

Ask our "panel of experts" a question about your Porsche (it really doesn't have to be technical).

Yahoo Discussion Group

You are invited to join the Lone Star Region's Yahoo Group. The Group is located at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/lsrpca/. This is a general purpose group to exchange information about your Porsche and LSR PCA activities, and it also provides a location where you can ask questions for general discussion.

Some Useful Tips and Links

Catalogues

From time to time, you may need a part, accessory, or line item for your Christmas wish list. Check out these catalogues of Porsche-specific and specialty products.

Approved Tire List

Some of the most frequently asked questions in the PCA Tech Section concern the selection of tires. As many of you know, there is a wide selection of high performance tires that will fit Porsches for both street and track use (and rarely, for both, especially if you are talking about serious track driving).

You may also be aware that Porsche tests many tires for specific use on Porsche cars, and those that they approve are given an "N" rating. - N1, N2, N3. (The number refers to the test series for the model(s) tested). For street driving Porsche recommends using only "N" rated tires.

Here is the latest approved tire list (February 2005, first issued May 25, 2004) courtesy of Joel Reiser of PCA.

Emissions Testing Older Porsches

Are you having an older Porsche emissions tested on a dynamometer? Here is a helpful hint from Russ Herman.

Was ist ein Rennlist, bitte?

Are you working on your Porsche? Got a question about which exhaust to buy? Looking for some help or history on a car? Or trying to find or sell a part? Why not try the Rennlist. It's free! Learn more. Go to the Rennlist.

PCA National Tech Advisors

Another good place for help with your Porsche-related problems is thru the PCA National Tech Advisors. One of them is even a Rocket Scientist.

Registries

If you are a Boxster Owner, you may wish to try the Boxster Registry at http://www.986registry.org/ or Porsche Pete's Boxster Board at http://www.986board.com/board/986board.htm.

If you are a 356 enthusiast, try the 356 Registry at http://www.356registry.org; 912 - try http://www.912registery.org; 911E - http://www.911E.org (with links to many other registries - 911T, 914, 928, etc), and so on....

A complete list of registries can be found toward the back of each Panorama issue.

Personal Porsche Web Sites

Many Porsche enthusiasts have their own websites devoted to Porsche. Here is one that contains a lot of information, including DIY tips for car repair and upgrades.

Go hunting in your Porsche - it may soon be possible.

New security system options for Porsche developed in conjunction with the Suburban Auto Group - road rage protection and anti theft protection.

Guide for pit crews - match your tools to the job at hand - click here for an illustrative lesson.

I was reading some stuff on the Rennlist, and I ran across a neat argument as to which color was faster (and therefore more suitable) for a Porsche. I found Carl Cilker's answer awe inspiring; and Phil Smith's commentary very insightful.

Many autocrossers are very familiar with traffic cones. For those of you who haven't given them as much thought, here is the information you are missing.

We had a caption contest in 2003 (at the expense of our past LSR President). See the photo and the winning captions.

So you think winter is cold in Texas - take a look at what can happen in Michigan, if you forget to drain the water pipes in your garage and leave on vacation for a few days - As Andrew Barry (who submitted the photo) noted, sometimes it pays to have the heated seat option.

Houston Traffic Rules for out of town visitors, and based on his experience after arriving in Houston recently, a Guide to Houston Drivers thoughtfully contributed by LSR member Phil Smith.

If you can't afford a Porsche, you may wish to track down this "eBay Special." You might also use this as a model for writing an ad to sell your car. Or you might not.

Shouldn't an LSR Past President, DE Instructor, and PCA Racer be able to change his own transmission oil. Read what happened when Stan Wenger meets Murphy on one Sunday.
